Currently, I live in the town of Tonawanda. For me this is a great place to live-having grown up in the city of Buffalo. When I first moved here, I had a difficult time adjusting to how quiet it was. There wasn't the constant noise of cars, sirens, close neighbors, etc. I did eventually adjust though. I know it's not as quiet or spacious as other suburbs, but that's what I like about it. I still am able to walk to most places (like growing up in Buffalo) and know most of my neighbors by their first names. Also, my children have plenty of friends in the neighborhood, and they can walk to and from their homes. I don't have to shuttle them everywhere.

Right now I am in a transition in my life. I work part time as a dog groomer while I attend Erie Community College to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. So far it has been extremely challenging keeping up with all my roles. I am a worker, student, mother, wife, daughter, and pet caregiver. Most of my time is spent running from one task to another-or at times I am performing multiple tasks at the same time. I know this hard work will pay off next year when I graduate. Sometimes it is overwhelming, but I am determined to succeed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

I think I am being a good role model for my children. I want them to constantly strive for self-improvement and satisfaction in what they do. We can always change what we do in life. It is never too late to make a change. The worst thing we can do is give up in obtaining our goals. It is never too late to learn something new or to try something new whether for a career or for enjoyment.

The following video was put together with two other classmates while attending a first year-first semester class at Erie Community College. We had to pick a target audience to explain what occupational therapy is. We chose to pretend we were giving a presentation to high school seniors and wanted to give them a glimpse of the many different people occupational therapy helps and the many activities that they engage in on a daily basis.  Occupational therapy is not just about healing the injury or disability, but helping people live full and active lives.
